Instant Reiki Master

by reik8030 on October 26, 2011

Hi everyone,

Recently it has become apparent that some people and attuned Reiki Masters and Practitioners believe they can be effective by becoming attuned certified “practitioners” in 48 hours or just being certified. All Reiki practitioners and most importantly certified Reiki Masters are students on a continuous basis or they lose their understanding of how to be effective in treating clients.

No one in any profession can be effective if they “shortcut” or only practice their profession sporadically. They not only cheat their clients but all practitioners and themselves. A “Master” not only must complete a minimum set of requirements (this gives them a certification) but must practice on a daily basis to learn and
understand all aspects of Reiki or any profession. Imagine a person needing brain surgery going to a brain surgeon who hasn’t practiced medicine in a decade or didn’t intern before going into practice. At Reiki Oneness, School of Reiki we have minimum requirements for all students and all of our students, including Reiki Masters know they must intern and are students forever.

Some “Practitioners and “Masters” have little respect for the traditions of being (in my opinion)”True Reiki Master or Practitioners”.  They are the ones in practice or on the internet who show secret Reiki symbols taught to Reiki practitioners of advanced degrees. It has been demonstrated that a lay person or practitioner who attempt to use these symbols will not be effective on the person they are treating and will damage their channeling abilities and more importantly might cause harm to the person who is receiving Reiki.

My opinion is when you see practitioners displaying symbols; it indicates a lack of respect for the science of Reiki or improper training or both. Practitioners who don’t fulfill obligations or practice Reiki regularly our only practitioners on a sheet of paper and not “true Practitioners” until they fulfill or practice regularly.

Following is an article recently published by Pamela Miles, a noted and well respected Reiki Master on this subject. I feel sad that this subject has to be addressed for such a beautiful and effective healing modality.

” The internet is liberally sprinkled with ads proclaiming:”

“You Too Can Become a Powerful Reiki Master in 48 Hours”

“Becoming A Powerful Reiki Master Has Never Been So Quick, Easy Or Complete.”

But how complete can “quick and easy” be?

Doesn’t mastery — of anything — by definition, take time?

Actualizing Reiki healing

Some think Reiki practice can be easily mastered because the technique is comparatively simple, but is it possible to master even the simplest technique without actually practicing it?

Regular self-practice over (a long) time actualizes the potential of the initiations, so that we ourselves are healed by our practice (what could be more powerful than that?).

Healed of what, you might ask?

Healed of whatever needs healing. The details vary from person to person and according to the situation, but ultimately, the healing is of our wrong understanding.

Our Reiki practice changes our understanding gradually and organically. Through our own process of healing, we (slowly) come to realize that mastery is not of the practice, but rather, of ourselves.

This profound healing, this realization, cannot happen instantly — or in 48 hours — but only through patient, consistent self-practice.

Reiki master student

Becoming a Reiki master is becoming a student, a masterful student of your own ongoing practice, a poised walker of the path, with your Reiki practice as your constant, supportive companion and guide (Today only…).

Continuing practice unfolds the path before us, sometimes not revealing the next step until our foot is about to hit the ground. It takes time to develop trust in that process. It takes time to develop steadiness.

Faster master myth

Of course we all like fast results. And when offering Reiki treatment, especially in an emergency, sometimes we get them. But rapid improvement in an extreme situation is the result of restoring balance to a system in distress; it is not the same as instant mastery.

It takes time to build stability in everyday life, which after all, is where we spend most of our time.

Let’s be mindful of the tendency to crave instant success and other mirages, and be willing instead to be the overnight success that was years in the making.

Because even if it were true that You Can Become an Instant Reiki Master, why would you want to?

Pamela Miles

I guess their will always be peole who want to “shortcut” anything for the “buck”. At “Reiki Oneness, School of Reiki” and the “Oneness New Age Center”, we wil do everything to discourage this unfortuante type of practice.

Thank you for your patronage,

Rev. Paul R.M.

How to Feel less “Self- Pity”

Awareness.

  1. Awareness of your surroundings is a key to your attitude.
  2. What or Who creates the “self-pity” in you? Take care to minimize
your interaction to them (since it might not be possible to physically avoid or eliminate those who initiate the feeling even if it is you)!
  3. Understand your complaining is an ill use of your energy, spirit,  health and time.

   Attitude of Gratitude.

  1. Reflect daily or hourly, if necessary, on family, friends, people, accomplishments and opportunities that are good in your life.
  2. Think and be thankful about the simple pleasures in our surroundings. Appreciate how good the little things are in your life.
  3. Maintain a feeling you are entitled to only what you create in your life.

  Accountability.

  1. At all times, keep your focus on creating solutions to issues rather than creating the issues (especially with family, friends and  co-workers).
  2. Being a leader is necessary for yourself and all the people around you.
  3.  Eliminate your self-pity by setting the example for others and stay focus on preventing your own “self-pity”.

Always maintain an “attitude of gratitude” for all you have achieved!
